Kocjan designed the Orlik family of gliders in the late 1930s. The original Orlik had a wingspan of 14.4 m, the Orlik 2 had a wingspan of 15.4 m (50.5 ft) and a glide ratio of 26.5: 1.


An Orlik 2 was exhibited at the 1939 New York World's Fair. After the fair, it was bought by a private buyer and then confiscated by the US government and put into military service as a training glider called the XTG-7. After the end of World War II, it was sold as surplus and was overtaken by Clarence See. It was then bought by Paul MacCready, who flew it in the US Nationals in 1948 and 1949 and won both competitions. MacCready also used the aircraft to set a world altitude record of 9,000 m (29,528 ft) in 1948 when he was flying in the Sierra mountain wave.


Our model has a very good-natured flight behavior. The rudders respond excellently to the smallest control commands, which makes centering in thermals child's play.


Extended thermal flights over a large area are absolutely uncomplicated to master with this model. Due to the good cross-country flight performance of the model, downdraft fields can be flown through quickly and without great loss of altitude.


The ease of handling on the landing approach is second to none.
